This Rare 1/2" Scale Biscuit Table is handmade by Artisan Fred Cobbs.  This Biscuit Table descended in a family from Jenkins County in 1840-1860 who, since the colonial era, has owned a plantation in that part of Jenkins County formed out of the original county of Burke.  Probably made in the years prior to the Civil War, the table continued in use into this century for biscuit making three times a day.  The top was closed over the rolled biscuits to encourage them to rise before baking.  Once a year the block was scrubbed and put out to sun.  A rolling pin comes with the table.  Piece is signed and dated '86 by Artisan and is numbered 4/100.
